From December 26-27, 1953, SUSK held their first National Congress, electing Vera Zarowski as its president. The Executives included: Bohdan Bociurkiw, Paul Hlek, Paul Palienko, Victor Deneka, Zenon Pohoreckyj, Iaroslav Barvinsky, Konstantin Zelenko, Ievhen Roslytsky, Nestor Oliinyk, Halia Brenenshtul, Leo Wynnyckyj, Bohdan Lesak, Volodymyr Zborovsky, Serge Radchuk, Luba Sliuzar, and Zenon Iankivsky.
