- The Advocacy Committee is a committee chaired by SUSK’s Inclusion and Diversity Director that focuses on running initiatives to promote inclusion and equity while advocating for issues that impact the Ukrainian Canadian Community.
- In the recent past, members of the Advocacy Committee have led SUSK’s Russian Aggression Awareness Campaign and have supported the University of Ottawa Ukrainian Students’ Club’s Postcards for Prisoners Project to raise awareness on the ongoing human rights abuses towards Crimean Tatars in Russian-occupied Crimea. Notably, members also worked together to draft, write, and pass the Equity, Commitment, and Action Policy, which includes our organization’s Guiding Principles and Policy on Discrimination and Harassment.
- Recently, the Committee has been working on Ukrainian Canadian Internment Awareness, Holodomor Commemoration, and finding meaningful ways to act on the goals, resolutions, and commitments set out during SUSK’s 2021 Annual Congress.
